We are proud to have been the first winery in Langhorne Creek to achieve our Sustainable Winegrowing Australia accreditation.
As a company, we aim to continue developing and improving our practices to create the most sustainable version of ourselves possible.

Belvidere Winery is committed to meeting the requirements of the Sustainable Winegrowing Australia program and surpassing them where we can.
Belvidere Winery is committed to delivering the highest quality services to our clients, whilst also striving for ‘Best Practice’ in sustainability.
Sustainability in business is not something that occurs on its own; we understand that our team holds the key to realising our goals. We have a dedicated Environment and Sustainability Officer to oversee our operations and provide training & development for our staff. We believe that an open dialogue amongst our peers is the best way to encourage improvements that work on the ground, not just on paper.
Some of our general policies and practices are listed below. Achieving sustainability is a work in progress. We understand that there is always more to be done, so this section will be updated regularly.
Sustainable Operations
-
On-going staff training
To ensure our team have the necessary skills to conserve resources and integrate sustainability into their everyday work lives.
-
Reusing materials where possible
To help ensure our business is both economically and environmentally sustainable.
-
Separating and recycling resources
To minimise landfill disposal.
-
Continued work
On increased energy efficiency and water efficiency.
-
Sourcing sustainable products
From Who Gives A Crap.
-
Composting our kitchen waste
And growing our own fruit and vegetables.
-
Using responsibly sourced, recycled paper
In all of our offices.
-
Recycling our end-of-life footwear
Through the national recycling scheme, Tread Lightly. Our aim is to become a collection point for the local area.
Our Premises
Over 45% of our energy comes from renewable sources onsite. Our goal is to make this figure 100% by 2030.
We have approximately 7.5 hectares of biodiverse land. We actively manage this area, focusing on protecting, maintaining, and revegetating local native habitats.
We capture rainwater on the property and treat wastewater to make it suitable for irrigation on our wood lots and pastures.
Grape stalks are used as mulch in our wood lots to help retain moisture during the hotter months. Oak chips from tanks are used on our garden beds to reduce weeds and soil erosion and to reduce the need for watering.
Our five year plan
-
A 10% reduction in supplied water usage.
This would be achieved through smarter irrigating, smarter planting, higher water harvesting rates and water saving innovations within the winery itself.
-
To work with the Ngarrindjeri community – the traditional owners of our land
To revegetate the property and create a Bush Tucker Trail. This will also help to reduce our radiant temperature.
-
Offer a central point for difficult-to-recycle items.
That can be used by the whole Langhorne Creek community.
-
To work with other wineries in the region
To become a stronger force for good in the recycling sector.
-
To significantly increase the percentage of rainwater that we capture
And to use this water for irrigating and cleaning.
-
To collaborate with the local community
On environmental projects.
